Also depends if you are neck sizing or full length sizing. Full sizing works the brass should and neck more. You will notice it needs trimming more, especially if there is excessive headspace.

Quite a mild 75.5gn of ADI 2217. As I've gone for accuracy and brass life over stonking velocity. Using PPU (Privi/Highland) brass and CCI Magnum primers.

What I've done for the 300WM loads for a Sako A7, is to have 180gn SSTs to fit the mag for general hunting within 300-350m. As the A7 has a stupidly short magazine. Even factory 180gn soft points are...

I have a spare .223 mag spacer if required, as I run detachable mags in mine.

But yes, there should be a spacer in the internal factory drop plate mag.

As others mention, S&B and Privi stuff is easy to get and wont break the bank, ie $45-$50 a box. Federal (blue box) will usually be around the $65-70 mark.... so ouch.

I can’t speak from experience with that projectile personally. I’ve previously used the old AMaxes in a number of other calibres for hunting and had good (if spectacular and bloody) results.

123gn SSTs or ELDs are the go to projectiles for the Grendel.

If its a lightweight short range bush gun, you could chop down those 22" barrels to 20' or even 18" to save more weight. I wouldn't go any shorter though.

Why turn a longer action Sako into a shorter one? If I ever rebarreled my Sako 270 into a different calibre, it would be to 6.5x55 Swe.
