In Nathan Fosters cartridge book he states the 708 to be a 850yard cartridge when using the 162 eldm at a MV of 2650 fps. Also states the best powder to be the good old 2208. Very impressive stats...

Mate if I was going short on the 708 I would go 18 inches and run a barnes 120 ttsx with win 760 to achieve 3050fps. Gives impressive results

The nx8 on the demo rifle is certainly a nice bit of kit as well. I like the idea of only needing one scope so could certainly justify the cost of the nx8 if splashing out on the hybrid.
