Thanks to everyone for their input. A mate has GIVEN me a Stihl 211. That will do for the trimming and a couple of fellings, before being cleaned and stored for next season. I appreciate that battery...

Although not quite as old, nor experienced as you grandpamac, I still manage to make my presence felt at our club shoots whilst using one of my 6.5x55’s. Whether it be the 1900 Oberndorf, 1916 M96,...

Consider parking at end of Springs Rd, near Katikati. Te Rereatukahia hut is an easy walk and allows access to some slips near the main ridge. FWIW, car security was always on my mind when I lived...

Without going to my shed to check, your load seems about right. From memory I used 37.5 gr of 2206H behind 174 fmj’s. Pretty sure 2206H is very popular in Au.

Wow. Well done grandpamac. One of our sons regularly shoots his Howa heavy barrelled 1:8 twist out to 500 using Belmont 77 gr. I have the same rig but should perhaps use my Tikka Forest T3X 6.5x55....

I had Lowas, thinking they were the bees knees. Soles disintegrated. Salesman told me it was through lack of use. Phtt! Never again. My Salewas are extremely comfy, but appear quite a narrow fit. One...
