Headed up the bush 2 days before Xmas for an evening hunt with the calibre of all calibres at my side:thumbsup: Would probably be my last for a few weeks. Went up after dinner and was on the...

Jaco Goosen liked post by 55six On thread : A short film produced with thermal camera and scope.
The rabbits were shot at 50-100m. At the the 33 second mark there is a paddock of rabbits at around 300m. We had a strong tail wind and they didn't stick around long. The polaris scope we were using...

Jaco, stug and sixtyten are correct. Jaco because he already does it this way, stug because he understands the forces acting on the action by the action screws, and sixtyten because you need clearance...

Jaco Goosen liked post by dannyb On thread : Anyone keen to rent a labradar?
To be honest I don't think its a great idea, too risky, accidents happen, and way to many dodgy people out there. Just look at the accounts on here that have recently been hacked for starters. It's...

I run a 30/284 and for the 30 fan i think this would be a good all rounder as with the right twist barrel you could run 130 to 180plus bullets , to suit . The 284 is a very versatile case

1/2"x28 TPI would be good and still leave a decent shoulder for the suppressor to contact. 9/16" and 14mm will both leave a shoulder that is too narrow to get a positive register.

Jaco Goosen liked post by gundoc On thread : Ruger Ranch II Bolt face - do I have a problem?
The bolt face damage is totally due to gas cutting by primer leakage. The bolt face could be repaired by careful TIG welding, doing just a small area at a time to avoid over-heating the bolt and...

Jaco Goosen liked post by quentin On thread : Shooting for "groups"
If I'm using a round target without horizontal or vertical lines (that can be used to align with the reticle posts), I find my groupings open up as the point of aim gets bigger as the ragged hole...

Jaco Goosen liked post by longshot On thread : Rifle cleaning 101 - school me!
The same way different guns like different ammo, so too do different guns like different cleaning regimes, what one person swears by because it works for him, may not work for you. The two main...

You are forgetting the dead woman, she was also at fault for not checking the thing. I would not let anyone point one at me without checking it myself first, and personally handing it to them.

Jaco Goosen liked post by gundoc On thread : Should movie stars be allowed to outsource personal responsibility?
Definitely the fault of the set armourer who has total responsibility for the firearms and blank ammunition on set. Actors, by and large, are nothing more than presentable monkeys who perform as the...
