Why turn a longer action Sako into a shorter one? If I ever rebarreled my Sako 270 into a different calibre, it would be to 6.5x55 Swe.

Yes The 16 inch tube will slow the projectile for sure Find a powder that is mostly consumed in that barrel length and gives the velocity you want, probably ADI 2209/2213sc A 140g Nosler...
