I used to use 162 ELD-X in my 7mm mag and had no problems. I now use the 168 Berger VLD in my 7 SAUM and really rate them - hammers things.

Or the availability of certain ring heights in your scope tube diameter. Lower rings are less available in 34mm than 30mm. 30mm has millions of low options though
