Didn't get a photo unfortunately but managed to decapitate a peacock at 460m with the .308 at Rushy's this afternoon. Looked like it had been taken to with an axe right below the skull.

I was about to say that the .17HMR (20gr load) is fine as I have used them heaps around Rotorua but I see you are from Dunedin. If you are shooting down there, you tend to shoot way longer distances...
