hunter Al.7mm08 liked post by longshot On thread : How much ammo
I find that leaving the bolt at home is safer than leaving the ammo at home. The risk with having the rifle and and the bolt is that you may just find a correct caliber cartridge under a verandah or...

Thats what I do too, usually with the hip belt on my pack. Works really well. Sometimes and depending if and where the sling is doubled due to adjustment, I put the belt through the adjustment...

I just assumed it goes into one of the empty holes on the turret to anneal the cases as they go through the press. That is why the slot almost opposite the powder thrower is empty, it has to be...

I run a similar protocol, when developing loads I use the balance beam, when making up a batch I use the dispenser and check weigh the first five and then every 5th load on the balance beam.

wekaman liked post by longshot On thread : The right scope
3-9 has been the cliché default ever since variable scopes have been as reliable as fixed power. You can't go wrong with a 3-9 as long as you don't leave it on 9. I usually just leave mine on 4,...

Nick-UK liked post by longshot On thread : Hunting Permits
There aren't many areas you can get to by train but Arthurs pass as mentioned is one. If you wrapped the goat in a blanket and bound the blanket with cord, it wouldn't cause any drama as long as it...

I just tick every box there is for every area. All Islands. That way I am covered. Nick-UK you might as well do the same. By law in NZ you need to obtain permission to hunt on any land. The...

Swanny liked post by longshot On thread : Gutting in the field
You will want to gut it in place, to roughly halve the carrying weight, and to cool the meat down (the gut retains a lot of heat if left in the animal). If there is pigs or predator fowl in the...

Fair question actually as it stems from wanting to do the right thing. In practice the rats will find the brodi, gutbag or no gutbag. So throwing it around the gut bag won’t really achieve...
