    Old rule of thumb for projectiles going at between 2400 and 2600 fps 3 inches high at 100 equals dead on at 200 and 3 inches low at 230 yards, so basically point and shoot to 250.

    Have you considered a mil or moa xmas tree style reticle or even a "simple" mil or a bdc. They are remarkably effective and do away with the twiddling of the knobs in most cases.

    If they use a bolt design similar to savage or the omark with a floating bolt head it could be possible the cross pin has bent or snappedwhich would be more difficult to rectify.
