Moa Hunter liked post by Cigar On thread : Making my irons more visible in the bush
This thread reminds me of my first shots at a deer. We had set up camp at the top of a slip in the Ruahines. Just on dark I took a look over the top and there were several deer feeding at most 50m...

I've got one of those fibre optic sights on the front of a shotgun - bright orange dot wherever you look, works great. Think I got it from Reloaders, comes in different lengths to fit various sight...

I have a mate with a Grendel and i have something very close to one (same calibre and similar velocities) both kill deer well inside 350m. Having said that bigger is always more better

Moa Hunter liked post by Marty Henry On thread : Help - stuck bolt
I don't own a savage but friends do and they are excellent rifles. The floating bolt head design is supposed to ensure better locking by permitting the locking head to "wobble" slightly and...

Yep; don’t beat the bolt handle and taking it to a gunsmith is sensible. As it seems the bolt will lift, and if you want to have a go yourself, things I’d try are (1) remove the trigger and bolt...

Moa Hunter liked post by NZ Bunny Hunter On thread : What little pesties did you bowl over today?
Yesterday was pretty good. Got four feral cats, about 30 rabbits and a couple of pigeons. Today, not so good. Just the one cat.

Make sure that corrosion hasn't affected threads. Hot, high pressure gas finding a pathway through the corroded threads won't do you any good.

Spirits of Salts(hydrochloric based). Will dissolve all the rust, then clean and treat/reseal.

If its not in the bore, I wouldnt worry too much about it. If its covered by the supressor, I would steel wool the rust off, and then just paint it.

Moa Hunter liked post by hotbarrels On thread : PARD 008 video filmed in mid-day sun
You can switch between colour and Infrared. Colour works best up to the point of almost dark (way later than you can safely use a normal optic scope), especially in the shadows. Once the image gets...
