Moa Hunter liked post by 30.06king On thread : What magnification are you running in the bush?
Over a few years I've switched most of the rifles I would use bush hunting to Z3 3-10X Swarovskis. All with the same reticle. I set them all on 4X when hunting and the majority of shots are at that...

My 223 and 270 both have 3-9s on them. 3 is probably a bit high for close tight bush work and 9 can be lacking on wallabies at 300m, but it's what I've got and works for me. I'd like a bit more top...

Dont know if you already do it but always make your skinning cuts with the knife blade upwards cutting from underneath the skin , you will get half the amount of hair coming out that way.

Moa Hunter liked post by GriffyGriff On thread : Browning Blr takedown
I thought I’d share my experience with a BLR 81 Takedown .308 I’m nearly 60, but still quite good with scoped rifles, but all the rifles I have are not ideal bush stalkers, so I thought I’d change...

Moa Hunter liked post by Tedz50 On thread : Anyone used 2206h/4895 for .308 subsonic load?
AP70 and Universal and Unique all mimic Trailboss loads but use less capacity in the case so some caution is required. Faster powders burn more completely in partially filled cases giving better...

I use 2206, The 308 cases I use were made in Canada by stealthround not sure if they’re still in business. The cases are made out of aluminium, they have small internal volume, the flash hole...

Keep an eye on the length of that tang screw. Ideally it shouldn't come above flush.

Moa Hunter liked post by 16Tontovarish On thread : Whats the longest shot youll confidently take at an animal
If I can get a good prone position and the wind is ok I can confidently get a deer out to 400m. I target shoot further than that but ethically that's as far as I'll go on a live animal. From...

Moa Hunter liked post by craigc On thread : Whats the longest shot youll confidently take at an animal
I’m glad this thread has stayed positive. I think in some quarters there’s a lack of understanding around longer ranger hunting. Like everything we do in life it’s about (a) incremental increases...
