    My first shepherd was good on deer, fantastic tracker. He wasn’t a ‘hunting dog’ as such, but he came hunting with me if that makes sense.

    30 years ago, my go to load (from memory), was 18 grains Blue Dot behind a 180 grain projectile for 1800fps out of a Marlin lever. Killed well above the paper stat's.
