Have used Mercator pocket knives for nearly 50 years. Farm, general use and hunting. I’m hard on knives and the only problem I’ve ever had with them is losing a couple. As stated on another thread...

Re: sharpening.... We used Victory boners all day in the butchery with only one 5 minute touch up on the stone at lunchtime. That's more work in a day than most hunting knives will see in a long,...

A long time ago I decided I'd like to hand down my old Ruger 308 to my boy which has a lot of sentimental value to me. I had bought the rifle second hand off my uncle in my late teens and it had...

Stephen Heath in Taranaki would take you out for a fallow or 2 at $100 to the landowner plus around $50 for his fuel etc. He is based just out of Stratford, will take you to private large scale land...

+2 for the victory knives. I have 5 now including that 4" drop point hunter. For another $30 you can also get a very well made leather sheath. They take an edge easily and hold it well. Not so sure...

I think that it is hard to go past a hollow ground knife for general butchery work. Some of the custom knives have quite a thick blade ( making them tiring to use) and while they have superior steel...

Victory 4" drop point hunter, 6" curved boning knife, or 6" outdoors knife (same as Bushaman's friend). You could buy the 3 and be under $100... 201363 I love the little NZ-made Victory Drop...

Highly recommend the Sony RX10 iv. Awesome bit of kit, more expensive than some but sits in a real sweet spot. One trick - whatever camera you choose is to learn how to use the focus hold and other...

I'm stunned that fuel economy in modern 4x4's is this 'poor' for want of a better term. In the mid 90's I rebuilt a series III stage1 v8 Land rover. So permanent 4x4. Dropped a 6.5L V8 diesel out...

Get your kid a pocket size book of native trees, I did this for my boys and they love looking for and identifying trees and bushes. You can also get pocket sized books of native birds.
