You may well get an extra 40-50fps using AR2209. But AR2208 is a more versatile powder. I use it for both 30.06 and 223. You can make some of the gear if your so inclined.

I've actually done this but used a trimmed bit of plastic tubing. The added bonus it tells you if the amount of powder is about the same in each case.

This is how I do it now. IMO for hunters anything from 0.002" to 0.005" would be fine as you tend to lose cases in the field. The tape is a good trick. To measure bump u can get away with a pistol...
