Get a 22 first. Everybody needs a 22. And then a couple bricks to put through it. Shoot rocks,cans,and small game whenever you can. This will make you learn how to hunt and get an accurate shot...

I wouldn't use the sst as a close range load. Would be more inclined to go to a soft point interlock and or 180gr

I used the 165gr btsp when I had a 308. No probs up close. Often didn't exit but messed up the boiler room OK.
