    Nah, wrong mindset mate. It's deliberate. Make it too expensive so it doesn't happen. De normalizes the public seeing it, price license holders out of it, and makes it harder to justify owning it.

    As a lad, I've caught: Rudd, Carp, Perch, Tench, Goldfish (as distinct from wild carp), Rainbow Trout (released ones), Eels and I've seen Koi, Cockabully and Gambusia. In both the quarry and the lake.

    If your hunting an area that isn't close to housing and there's someone's cat out there chances are it's killing. That is an issue for native wild life. I fail to see how the pet argument is...
