hey scouser i would just give the handle a bit more of a sand with 320 grit or so make all the scratch marks go the length of the handle and the a rub with cooking oil will be all it needs cheers ...

Yup that looks good. Use the pin holes to connect the scales together, this keeps the scales even, just work like it's one piece of material. Rough cut the radius first test fitting for looks....
