Reminds me I once freed a harrier hawk with a leg caught in an electric fence. It was remarkably docile while I worked to separate ths wires to get the leg out. Once it realised it was unrestrained...

Untangled quite a few Sika stags off the top wire of fences They often limp very slowly away for 20 yrds and sit down I retreat quietly and leave Coming back the next day I have always found...

The second one was still really warm, so I butchered and ate it. 217012 217013 It’s always upsetting to come across this.

Not that uncommon sadly in country with old fences. Over the years I've found four or five deer that died with back legs caught in fences.

This would probably be more well suited on a .22 rifle I probably had something with a bit more magnification in mind.

Over the last year I’ve been gradually refining my backcountry hunting loadout. The goal being to cut weight without compromising efficacy or safety. A year ago, I’d be lucky to hike in with a...

I wrote an article for the deceased guns and hunting magazine comparing both 7.62x39 and 223 in bolt actions, a Ruger ranch and Howa mini. The x39 is a clear winner in the energy stakes at all...

Depending on range 7.62x39 could be an option too...WMR would not be my choice on goats - and if you need rapid follow up shots then lever action like a BLR could be the go too. (dearer though) ...

A lot will depend on the range, over 100 mtrs then the 223, if 60 to 80 a well placed shot with a 22 mag will do the job. They are a tough animal and wounding is unacceptable , it will not only come...
