   Out of interest sake, The sako ammo claimed 2917fps on the box. I recorded a average speed of 2918fps over 5 rounds with a spread of 30 fps. Not bad for factory ammo

   For a centrefire the only really cheap option is 223, maybe 204 Ruger or a 17cal but you are limited on projectile choices and not available as cheaply as 223. 223 can do very well as a gong rifle...

    Reloder 17 will work well. Very similar to Reloder 16 (which is the mutt's nuts) but more temperature sensitive. Hybrid 100V also gets very good velocity numbers on the Hodgdon website. 2213 too...
