While i agree to a point on the mills and end mills being lesser quality from china,Myself and others in the trade all source the carbide from aliexpess or alibaba at a tenth of the price paid here.
The t4 tormek is worth a look if you are not doing it for a living.
From a kit set hull 400-600 man hours depending on build quality and how well your workshop is set up is not uncommon. A lot of knowledgeable chaps on the jbnz forum.
