The beginning of October the North Otago Gundog are running their...
You are assuming I only hunt for a few short months a year. I never said I don't hunt fur, what I did say pointer and setter trials are run on birds, and fur on a pointer and setter are a problem.
Fact: Pointer and Setters are run on birds anywhere in the world - if you want to run trials on rabbits get a spaniel or form a club, put a set of rules together and go and run your continentals on...
In fact when Bendigo were releasing pheasants a strong NI contingent did come down. The verdict: impossible to run a game trials too many rabbits. Yes there were plenty of quail and pheasants in the...

Plenty of Versatiles have done OK.

SPOT ON !! :):)
The reason the P&S QC trials are popular is because the P&S NG trialists and the "pigeon" trialists can all come together to compete on an equal basis for a qualification.
It is widely accepted...
Wirehunt,
The problem is the P&S class in NZ lumps together all the HPR breeds plus the Pointer, and setters (Irish, English, Gordon etc).
When our NZ trials were invented the HPR breeds were not...
Ask the NZGTA. The original concepts back in the 1930's were based upon UK trials.
The P&S class has remained the same until NG trials in the North were introduced.
A thorough review of how we do...
Biggest problem is Rabbits.
Its been tried once or twice in the past and was a disaster.
