Sideshow, wet day here today so I have dropped the barrel / action out of the stock. Trigger guard off and sanded and getting ready for etch.
My trigger guard isn't nice and smooth like yours as...
rambo-6mmrem, yeah they are a very accurate caliber with that long neck, held bench rest records for years and years. The 1/14 twist is a little inhibiting but sounds like that was what they were...
rambo-6mmrem, yeah it was a cool looking rig,it's what got me started down the 222 route, only reason I didn't pursue it further was the FAL and shipping thing.
Walked into the local H&F and saw the...
rambo-6mmrem what rifle are you looking at in 222 ?
@ rossi.45, thanks for the thoughts , I think your dead right on everything you mention.
This is my 3rd trip down the reloading road. Each of the previous times I swore I wouldn't ever reload...
Bugger, oh well you won't forget next time, didn't take long to chip / scratch .
Had my 222 out over the weekend, 20 rabbits shot out to 275 yrs. Just shitty old Winchester Softpoint factory ammo so...
Mate cool little semi, looks very handy around the Briar bushs.
I have that same little suppressor, surprisingly effective and light.
Yeah agree, very fortunate to have someone like Gundoc in...
@ rossi.45 , she's all set up now, Gundoc has given it a good going over and tickled the trigger, threaded and suppressed.
My long range / short range varmint / Deer rig.
Running a average...
Looks great mate, came up like new.
Mine will be getting the same over winter along with looking at oiling the stock back up .
Cheers for the post
Sorry to drag this back up again but a few forum members asked to see results after a bit of work.
A massive shout out to gundoc for working his magic , I can't thank you enough. Hope the power came...
Oh Sideshow, Gundoc said that's also a original Tikka mag release button along with the mag, some clever and very nice work .
Let me know if you are ever down this way, catch up for a drink and...
Cheers mate, yeah it's a bit of a one off, maybe a few of the chopper boys or forestry shooters back in the day ran them like this but not many if any ( stolen Scribe line ) are about any more....
See the top of the Mag, has like a hard plastic at each end, someone has suggested this maybe a early Tikka mag, I wonder f it was off a bigger Caliber and cut down ? I can certainly seat projectiles...
Sideshow as promised. Yes the serial number starts with "2R"
Enjoy the photo's mate, who ever has done the work really has done a nice job, Mag is very snug with no rattle, slop or play, sits...
Sideshow, I will take some close up photo's for you tomorrow mate both of the mag and also more into the rifle and workings.
You are dead right Sideshow, there is a grub screw on the trigger, will have a play cause she's a shocker at the moment.
No I haven't got confirmation it is a CF2 , just what the boys on here have said. I have had more of look at the magazine, really interesting , I think it's an add on but the workmanship is first...
Sorry forgot the pic.85435
Thought I would give a progress report n the mighty BSA 222, weather was good so away I went.
Trigger is a shocker probably the heaviest I have ever used, no feel and a considerable effort needed,...
Yeah I will at some point but it wont be till I find out if it is a shooter first, I will be stripping it down as a winter project . Once it's in bits I will post a picture .
Will let members know...
I don't know, the floor plate is all one piece, has a proper small mag release button, really snug with no rattle, noise or movement. I wondered if if was an extra you could order and retro fit ?...
@ Sideshow, awesome looking stock mate, amazing grain, be more than I paid for the rifle.
@ Northdude, cheers I am looking forward to the 222, a bit legendary in NZ and bench rest circles I hear.
@...
Firstly I need to blame several people on this bloody forum for this purchase, @ Sarvo for posting his BSA Hunters up, @ Gundoc for saying how nice they are and to every one else including myself for...
