if you go back in time the arapawas were saxton merinos...so were the chatham island ones..... the arapawas are unique because they had so long in isolation to fit into that enviroment....they LEARNT...

arapawa sheep are MOSTLY brown/black.... cross them with white and you can get any combination of markings you can imagine... a lot of our ewes167477 had face markings of light color almost like you...
I had one at pit road..... he now at "the shearers quarters" cafe...getting fed sheep nuts by the tourists.... great hardy sheep,low maintainence with bonus they taste good. they are smaller bodied...
