Sounds like a sharp edge to me, and less bearing surface grinding paste will probably just make it fit sloppy.
Removing more material should be done very carefully from this point on

what rifle is it for?

gunworks do it, i think it looks cool but havent bothered with it as its just another way for crud to get into the action
