What it sounds like is that the original problem wasn't diagnosed properly and the "answer" was a bubba spring. The 5mm lift seems a bit tight, but it probably does have a half-cock stalking...

Is it a really long flimsy unsupported FP? I'd suspect, particularly with a bubba spring behind it, that it'll bend/flex as it flies forward, may even be clipping the FP hole.
