Guys,
Just been checking the Stiller site... I'm investigating a Long action with Mag capabilities for a potential 6.5-06 build.
Anyone know whether such a thing exists?
Cheers

Yes i have one of those actions at home here.
A big fast bullet beats a little fast bullet every time
Great wee cal the 6.5-06. Even better if you Ackley it Just curious, why are you looking at such an expensive action for the 6.5? I can totally understand................... just because
Do what ya want! Ya will anyway.
Stillers are cheap for a custom action.
I have a clients Predator action in my safe, very nice bit of kit
Not very light though.
If you want light but expensive get a Titanium action

Light but expensive.... hahaha... man... I think I'll pass!
I tell you what though, I have had a peep at the Pierce actions.. they look nice....
I'm a bit finnicky really... Things have to work nice for me or I get a bit pissed about it.
My Savage had a bit of slop in the bolt and it ate me up... so I decided a Remmy action or clone would be the ticket.
Also, I have gone the route of the cheaper option in the past and nearly always end up paying the same as a Custom well known brand.... So may as well Buy once and cry once!
Plus the fact that re sale is good if needed.
Looking forward to the Build.. Should meet my requirements for accuracy and stopping power mixed with medium recoil.
Sound reasoning there.
If you want any starting loads and stuff sing out. Really enjoyed having one.
I had 3 LR kills with it and it performed well 0-800yrds with scirocco 130's
Not into shooting animals at distance anymore so went smaller and short action. You will like it.

If you want less slop then you will still have to shim the bolt body, they are as loose as standard Remington, also check the bolt face and contact, alloted ones I have played with need little tickle
They are nice actions tho, but are at the cheap end of custom actions also

So you are wanting a long action as you will be using a 30-06 lenght round ? , and mag ? , are you talking internal magazine or detachable magazine ?
Later Chris
I hear ya... I was getting Binding when reloading at pace wit the longer bolt handle... I have to say also that I enjoyed the Savage a heap but not the challenge of finding parts to fit and in the end I may as well have bought a premium rifle when I was finished cost wise but still ended up with little niggles... The Bolt spacing on the 4.4 action leaves little material on Laminate stocks to work with and pillar bedding them often looked like it was just holding on.
I think the Rem offers more choice as a whole but I do enjoy the challenge of finding parts and learning in the process.
ChrisF, I will be using the MDT LSS Chassis.... comes with an integral Bottom metal that houses the AI style mag..and yes the decision was based on using long projectiles so room is needed to seat them out... We are using 8.5 twist Vulcan Barrels that are in the process of being made now...
@SlimySquirrel if you want to build a 6.5/06 track down a P17 action rebarrel in 6.5 done. due to the P17 being 3006 it is a very easy conversion.
Thanks mate, I have already gone ahead and ordered a Rem 700 .... It's more out of Choices and options.
