    223 reloading

    Picked up a 223 1 /12 twist
What projectiles and powder do people use and what velocitys are you getting?
    Cheers Ash

I will be reloading for this soon. I've got 55gr Sierra Gameking SBT and 50gr Barnes ttsx. I'll probably use H335 because I already have some, otherwise I would go for 2206H.

    Vmax, still room for improvement

    Try the 55gr v-max and about 23.6grs of 2206h.

The Sierra 55gr hollow pints are deadly too.

    Cheers

55 is about as heavy as that twist will stabilise, those sierra hpts are amazing out to about 200 m, then sort of drop out of the sky. Worked up to 26 gr of 2206h for best accuracy, but thats pretty much a max load

Using a Remington m700, with the 55grain game kings and 24.5g of 2206h awesome accuracy but haven't put thru the chrony yet. The gun runs a med profile trueflight 1in12 cut to 20''.

The good old Hornady 55grn SP works great on goats and fallow with a charge of BM2 at 3200fps

60grn. VMax works great in my 1-12

mostly used on Goats, Fallow with chest shots out to max 200, fattens them . . . destroys Hares n Rabbits at 3000fps using 2208 in my 20inch Rem700

50grn. VMax is my choice for Rabbits n Hares

I've got two batches of loads sitting ready to test with 55gr Hdy SP. Some with 2208 and some with 2206h.
When the farm is finished lambing, I'll be out to try them.

In my 20 inch barrel Mod 7 223 I use BM2 (25 grs) with the Hornady 55 gr SP/WC bullet works well on most things at sensible ranges. Getting 3070 fps in the 20 inch barrel.
Work up to this charge weight start 2-3 grs lower.

26gn of 2206h in my rem vssf11 with honardy 55gr sp doing 3276 ft/s, shot really well too. Tried the sierra 65gr in it and couldn't get the accuracy out of it that i wanted, my ar15 loves it though.

1-12 twist Tikka, 26.5grs 2206h driving a 40gr v max, very accurate and devastating. Works well in this rig for me.
