Cleaning the inside of brass - Thoughts

    Hey Guys/Gals,

I've tried to do a bit of research on this but there doesn't seem to be much info around, but I was wondering if (and How) you guys clean the inside of your rifle brass?

I'm coming up to my 5th firings out of my nosler cases in my .270 and was wondering if all the buildup of powder has any effect on the loads from say the first clean firings.

    Cheers,
    G

ultrasonic+ 1, I use citric acid and hot water for my solution. You can use a bore brush to clean the inside of the necks in the mean time tho'

Or you could just not care.
Stainless tumbler media will do the same job and empty your wallet far better than ultra sonic ever will.

    Poor man’s method:
    1) Soak them in white vinegar 10min.
    2) Dump them into warm water with tea spoon of baking soda for ten min.
    3) Dry
Won’t put a shine on them but they will be clean.

Interesting. I may look at a sonic cleaner. May try the old vinegar/water/salt and bake method first and see how it goes.

+1 for ultrasonic cleaner. My $50 one has done a couple of thousand cases now. Just need to refill them and empty them. They are great for the primer pocket/flash hole/neck.

    +1 for the sonic cleaner.

My primer pocket cleaner tools are now redundant.

Yes. It won’t remove staining but does remove powder build up. I usually give the pockets a quick turn with a hand tool to remove any stubborn build up anyway.

When drying brass I just dried the outside of each one with a hand towel, placed it upside-down in the hot water cupboard for a few days. I’ve herd bad things about baking brass.

It won’t get them super clean like these ultrasonic cleaners but will remove any built up shit…..and its cheap
