    First test rounds from my first reload for 223

    40 gr Vmax with 4 different charge weights.

    Will fire the remaining 20 tomorrow when the chrony arrives ....

    How'd they go? 40 grains of powder runs best out of my howa when pushing a 55 grain bullet. what kinda groupings did you get?

    yessssssss ... I was going to go with 50gr of powder , but I thought better of it as I'd been drinking at the time and my smoke kept falling out of the ashtray above my bench ...

    Ah yes, the old school approach of throwing powder till the case is full, using the back of your hand to wipe off the excess (just so everythig is nice and consistent) and the squashing the projectile down "firmly"

    Puts the fun/fear factor back into reloading...

    probably coz I originally put 40gr although with reference to the projectile weight

    I didnt fire more than one round ... just wanted to check for signs of overload .... still 5 to fire of each ... will fire those tonight thru the chrony
