Yeah. Going through the pics brought a tear to my eye. Have got a 6 month lab pup now.

Im taking it slowly with the new pup. Wife loves her so Bella has a pet role as well as a hunting one. Still working on basic commands and will get her hunting in the spring a bit. She is 6 moths tomorrow.

The plywood set up in the fridge is a great idea, I presume those are hooks of some description to hang the meat.
It would allow the air to circulate , drip tray keeps it clean. I might have to build one myself.

Actually, thinking about it some more. Here's the handiest gadget you can take into the bush. Get a "Brian".
Solid, dependable and caries stuff like a demon.

Over 70 when he carted this big bugger up out a creek onto the ridge top, and to the truck. "Never again" he said. Yeah, right.

Meanwhile I was down another gully doing my bit. But I had more of a sidle than straight up hill, and Brian came and helped me after he had done his pig. We do ok us old buggers.

and you are 100% right...there is NOTHING as good up on the hill than a solid dependable mate, someone who you KNOW will have your back ,wont shirk the hard yakka and will happily give and recieve a bit of stick to keep you going when things get tough.
some even try to push you out of the way to get stuck in and do the knife work...and take you out for walk when your a bit down on luck.
good mates are hard to find..when you do hang on tight.
