    Remutaka goats

I'm heading out on Saturday to try for some goats. Heck, one would do. I don't have heaps of time, just an afternoon so I was thinking the Remutaka hill Rd rather than further down south, since I nearly always see goats driving up there.
Should I go in near the bottom Featherston side, or park up the top? Any tips? I've not been up there before.

Identify your target beyond all doubt because you never miss (right?) and I'll be missed.

I've hunted the ones near cross creek before. Which gullies were you referring to?

Seeing heaps by the side of the road there lately. The recent helicopter cull obviously missed a few. Funny story I have there a few years back. I was driving south about halfway up the Wairarapa side and came across a billy goat wandering down the road with a jack russell hanging off the horns by its collar. There was a queue of traffic coming down the hill following it. I stopped and jumped out. Grabbed the goat by the spare horn and managed to get it over the rail off the road all the while with the dog snapping at me and goat. Removed the dog from goat and threw it in the back of the ute. Drove up the road a bit and found a couple of vehicles parked up with a woman giving some guy a piece of her mind. Apparently, the guy had spotted the goat and released his hounds. I told him to grab his dog from the back of my ute and not to do dumb s%$# like that on a main highway again. Was a surreal scene for sure..
