Holy smoke Batman!!!!! very lucky to survive indeed... go the SAR and Police folks who found him and big ups tothe medical staff who have kept him alive...be a long slow road to recovery, suddenly a sore knee seems trivial.

Often thought some kind of tracking device could be better, just in case something like this happens and you cant activate it

Some pretty serious & severe injuries. Very fortunate they found him when they did. Hats off to LandSAR & cops. Hopefully he pulls through & gets to enjoy another hunt.

yes I would say so owner pilot for local firm has to be dont quite recognize exactly where on the place this is but everything points to Larsens - lots and lots of fallow but rather runty not much antler potential but you will see a hell of a lot of deer bit expensive to

That's definitely an upside for having an inreach type device. As long as you start the tracking function and share the link with someone at home. Then at least they can forward on the tracking link if needed.

Lucky guy. Great result for the search team.

Wonder if he'll get a growling for being "somewhere he wasn't expected to be" once he's mended up.

When I drive, I have a share location function on my phone so my wife can keep an eye on my movement. If it stops for too long she will text (as I sometimes stop for a nap or stretch my legs etc) Usually if I am stoppng for more than a few minutes, I will text her anyway as I dont check my phone while driving...

Obviously this only works where you get reception, but even if it is patchy, it will give you a last known location that may help...
