AR-15 information where to start out?

    Hi all

I have decieded to head down the slippery slope if buyin an AR in the next 6 months or so.

But first i like to do heaps of research and get lots of background information all about AR's.
so i was wondering what books and youtube videos or websites you guys would recomend looking at because i know there is a heap of info out there and would like a head start on where to look.

Im after an AR for goats, long range bunnie blaster and just a fun gun to take to the range.

I am interested in learning how things like short/long/carbine length gas systems affect things. Difference between gas and DI guns etc.

Cheers looking forward to some good reading

Come to my range on Wednesday evenings we do a run an gun style course with reactive targets and 0-300 fixed steel.

Always more than a few ar15s in the mix.

Better than reading about them from people who don't shoot them

Get into it. It's good fun and the fun police will probably take them all away one day.

Is that range public or private? Sounds like a dream

Patrick Sweeney's Books are outstanding: Gun Digest Book the Ar-15, P Sweeney - Shop Online for Books in NZ

He has 4 volumes on the AR15, 2 on gunsmithing and another on 'customising'... all a bloody good read and he does the testing himself. Arguably the US authority on the AR15...

Just because someone shoots an AR doesn't necessarily mean they know anything more than what google tells them about them.

Also recommend heading to the range with @Dr. Watson.

This is a good history of automatic firearms that covers the history of the AR and AK in good detail. I brought the audio book from Audible and listened to it on the way to work.

Contact John Herbet at NZrac(repeating arms company). You won't go wrong with his advice or alternatively contact your local service rifle club.
