Recently installed in two of my Model 2's (452's). One is a little on the light side at about 12oz but it's perfectly safe with no creep. The other is about 1.5lbs with no creep.

Just to keep throwing models in the mix. Anyone shot the Zastava CZ99?

I would disagree with the notion that USA made 22s are not good enough.

The Remmy 541 and 541T are very well regarded rifles and the 581 and 504 models are rather good too. Also good are the better Savage 22LRs. At a cheaper level the entry level marlins can be absolute sharpshooters. Of well over 100 rimfires I've tested, the best performance off the bench at 50m for a standard barrel sporter was from a Marlin 60 semiautomatic with a 0.29" average over four groups. Perfect build quality - no. Functional quality - very definitely. Another Marlin 60D semiauto - the 60DLX model - averaged 0.39" for 4 groups. That level of accuracy spins my wheels.

In terms of price/build quality/performance the Marlin 60DLX is the best semiauto model I've come across in years. Hard to get now unfortunately.

My Ruger 77/22 shoots bloody well , the action feels like a propper Rifle instead of a "pollished gate latch" like alot of the Euro stuff.

The one for sale on this thread would be money well spent.I have had one for 21 years,can't fault it.

yep i had one for a while very nice rifle well made nicest bluing ive had on a rifle no plastic bits except for top of safety very accurate as well once i sorted teething problem out and a nice adjustable trigger id own another one the only reason i sold it was to get a left handed rifle

Not sure how common they are in NZ now but the now older Winchester .22's (think model 320 ) made in Australia by Sportco. Also the Sportco branded models such as the 62 and 63. They are well made and can be great shooters. Normally bring around $300 here

I bought a Marlin model 60 deluxe for $470 new on your recommendation and you are so right.
I have tested my four 22's with 8 different types of ammo and the marlin is equal to my quite expensive Lithgow and better than my 455 and the mighty Stirling model 20p that was my first rifle at 15 in 1977.
one of the most consistent performing ammo were the cci which were the most reasonably priced out of the better accuracy nodes.
the model 60 is definitely my favorite with it's nice bit of wood and bluing and the Lithgow is a really well finished bit of engineering with the bolt and action a bit of art.

We have similar tastes Marty Henry - I started with a Gevarm when I was 16 - used it a lot for about four years and then bought a new Brno - but couldn’t work the bolt fast enough for the rabbits that were around back then - so sold it and bought a Unique - still got it and it’s mint - spare mag and silencer
About a year ago I told my wife it should go to a collector - so could I buy an hmr? - I chose a Savage with the thumb hole stock and heavy barrel - but I need a strong man to carry it around for me - it is so farking heavy - it is going to have to go - I have still got the Unique - thank Christ
I need to reach out a bit for magpies - so an hmr seemed like a good option and I liked the idea that the projectile would fly apart rather than ricochet - but I have to find something lighter than the Savage
The Gevarm was a neat little semi - I wish I had kept it - but when it got dirty it went fully auto - so I sold it
I wish there was a trigger solution for the Unique - it is a long heavy pull - where to from here - I am not sure

Your one looks a little better looked after than mine, the blueings worn there are a few dings in the stock, and the foresight covers gone. Still have the thread protector and silencer got the 10/22 threaded to take it as well. Its the wifes favourite and she probably uses it more than me at present. They made them by starting with a couple of big steel blocks and cut everything that didnt look like a gun off hate to think what that level of machineing would make them cost now.

Looks like I'm sort of sorted. Just picked up a new to me CZ 452 American. Off to the range tomorrow weather permitting.

do you blokes get the Lithgow LA 101 I just bought one and they are built like a tank

but unfortunately the trigger is just as crap as a cz trigger .

just get the light weight spring and a bit of a trigger job done.
I rate my 101 as a accurate well built bit of kit.

it's a bit more than a basic trigger job I will need to drill and tap a screw in the front of the housing to get rid of the 3 stage creep
