Easy to make a good detachable one, wish I still had a sewing machine! Cut a piece of canvas to the shape of your bonnet, maybe even another as the top, stitch together with a piece of fleece or whatever between. Fit a diagonal piece of webbing across each of the rear corners, about 250mm out from the corner. Do the same for the front, but add a slide buckle in to the middle of it. Bind all 4 edges with 20 or 25mm binding. Lift bonnet, place mat on top and slip webbing loops across the bottom/rear corners. Do the same at the top/front and cinch up the buckles. The buckles and loops then are hidden under the closed bonnet. Job done.

use ados f2 glue and the rubber backed outdoor carpet or marine carpet

And a big-arse set of R M Williams long horns on the back window and for extra point - an electric fence standard for a radio aerial!

6-8-10 small bolts with decent large flat washers acros the front will forever stop the chance of it lifting off at speed...once carpet is on,its staying on,resale value is was it is,carpet will always be there so a few wee holes drilled isnt going to change price, but wwill give piece of mind its not going to fly off.

Get a second bonnet from pick a part or a wrecker. If you're really lucky you'll track one down already carpeted and no worries about the colour...

The wrecker will give you a ten% discount if you have the required mullet, trucker cap and sleeveless Chiefs jersey on you.

Just use a Harris or other rubber feet type bipod. Can't see how the rubber feet would scratch the bonnet. Or get a square piece of rubber pad to put there. Would be quite slip resistant on a bonnet I would think.

Just be classy and get some good rubber floormats, chuck them on the bonnet when needed, couple of rachet straps if needed during off road adventures... Duel purpose
