A few more "accidental "discharges along these lines may help reduce the number of scumbag fwits out there

After other cases where numerous rounds have been sent down range... Maybe they were just trying to up the hit percentage by putting him in cuffs first

More info. Hastings man shot by AOS rifle - 17-Aug-2013 - NZ Accident and Emergency news

Seems like he had not threatened the Police and had complied with their orders. Bit of a muck up by the looks.

Littledog. Please don't come on here being all sensible and rational. It spoils the tone of a perfectly good red neck, reactionary and thoughtless thread.

Rifles don't go off by themselves ,someone had the finger on the trigger

There will be a media conference in relation to the accidental police
    shooting in Hastings yesterday.

It will be held at midday today (Saturday) at the Eastern District Police
Headquarters in Napier. Media should meet near the Poppies Cafe entrance to
the building on Hastings St. This is adjacent to the Napier Courthouse.

Sounds like the safety wasn't engaged.

"Police officers were moving forward to assist Pere to his feet when a Bushmaster rifle being carried by AOS member discharged. The firearm, which has a trigger guard, was slung on the officer's shoulder."

Clown, WTF, why was the rifle still loaded and on his back, If it was. Why was his finger on the trigger?? not a good look for the AOS. I know we occasionally make mistakes, but hey these are the experts, these are the guys who gazette us for our firearm behaviour. The shot guy might be of been scum, but the he was restrained and they where helping to his feet when Johnny Keen, forgets about rifle safety and oopsie.

Drove past the house today. Couldn't figure out WTF was going on. Cops, Fire and plenty of tape. Figured it was just another meth house find.
Been teasing one of the cops here all afternoon to not shoot me if I lay down!
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds
