No mate, a good bugger sent me a few 208’s for a play that’s all...

Rifle may not like them, it seems to like the lighter one better.

Thought I would revive this thread from when I last posted in it.

Well, I picked up a nice Savage 110 in 30-06 and though I'd run the 200gr ELDX load through it as well. Using Superformance and Fed Magnum primers, I got the 200 grainers going at an average of 2715ft/s. Coupled with groups sized between 0.5 to 1.0 inches I think I have found a workable load. The next step is to see how the 200gr ELDXs expand on animals at the 100-200m range and then again at 350-450m once the bullet has lost a bit of velocity. Beyond that range I'd probably use a different rifle.

After about 30 rounds from prone position, my shoulder was starting to feel it.

Anyone else have any feedback on 200gr ELDX expansion at aforementioned ranges?

Good to hear that the rifle likes the 200 Gr ELD X my Ruger American would not group better than 2 -2i/2 inches at 100 yards after further testing. I tried my old 180 gr Noslar BT load and it shot around the inch mark so it wasn't liking those heavier bullets. I have loaded the 200 gr ELD X into my 300 Win Mag, at least they grouped a lot better in that rifle.

I would be happy to use the 200 eldx down to 1800fps(500yards for me) as long as you hit bone, shoulder shot etc, I would guess penetration may go thru both shoulders under 2000fps but then accuracy is final,

Personally I would use the 208gr in a 30-06. From a muzzle velocity of 2600 will still be doing 1800 around 650yards. They are devistating, maybe too much for some people

The 208 gr Amax is devastating in the 300 RUM at just under 3200fps, kills like a lighting strike.
