I think you've mis-interpreted me.
Certainly, factory rifles can shoot well with "favoured" ammo, but from the data I've seen, most factory rifles are quite "fussy" and won't shoot most factory ammo well - depending on how you define "well". I'd call 2MOA "true cone of fire" - or worse, a 10rd 2MOA group - average-to-poor precision.
I fired nearly twenty rounds this morning.two definately dead wallabies and two maybes....but I am happy enough with that.the two definates were just under 300 yards away,across a deep valley. Who knows what wind the wee 50 GRN pills encounter on the way. One hit was semi pointed 70 GRN. Another was a pointed 70 GRN that SHOULD NOT stabilise in my 1:10 twist.... I had four of those and five longer 77s that I fired without suppressor. By golly they were loud.never saw impacts at 400 ish but Mr wallaby moved off,maybe he thought it was going to rain with the thunder. Did kill two others but at under twenty yards they hardly count other than using magnum22 pills with 4.5grn trailboss. My point is sometimes it's not all about being super accurate....just having a blast at peski roos n keeping myself alive by walking the hills.often when shooting off the "mortitions slab" I've thought to self the 243 would go well here lol.

The comment re how far you can hit a CD....I've always said a 3litre milk bottle...if you can consistant hit either out to range X....well range X should be your ethicle range to shoot at deer etc.

Accuracy doesn't come into it IF you set those as limits.

@gimp and @Stocky
So if I'm understanding this correctly, with average to poor accuracy, the simulations show a hit probability rate of somewhere between 69% and 97% on a 250mm diameter (I acknowledge your target dimensions Stocky, brevity for simplicity)
So there's a marked step between both simulations what am I missing here? Or is it just that gimp fluffed the radius measure? It's late and my brain has had a big day

@gimp used 250mm radius so 500mm diameter. We are both still getting used to some of the inputs. Its not super intuitive to get right. If i run 250mm radius mine matchs.
I have since found this video that clearly explains the inputs.

I did a 'boy look' this thread for a certain factoid but I didn't see it.
Try a 70 grain flat bummed bullet and then rejoice in the knowledge your slow twist barrel can actually group well. I had groups exactly like yours and came to the conclusion that I was hamstrung from the get-go with a 1/10 twist. It just can't stabilize heavy long bullets. It's got nothing to do with seating depth, powder charge etc etc.
Lighter bullets. Give that a go eh.

That seems to be thr thing with the 1-10 253. Some will happily stabilize 100gr but possibly only just. Others just won't.
Think that's why nosler do a couple of different weights in the 6mm ballistic tip.
Think they do a 90, 95 and a hundy
Ren coreloct are blunter so shorter....

Wet Sunday. @Zedrex So how did this all turn out in the end. Was there a solid conclusion?
Restraint is the better part of dignity. Don't justify getting even. Do not do unto others as they do unto you if it will cause harm.
Well????????

@Tahr @Micky Duck
It has been a mission, with finally excellent results, I would have posted sooner but life has been hectic, like 6 countries, 55,000kms and so many time zones I don't even know what season it is....plus I only just managed to get back onto the forum after getting locked out (gag order perhaps?) I shall update the post over the next couple of days, a LOT has been learned
