All the short magnum 7mms are better suited for use in a short action due to the shorter case length.
In a long action they are good for an additional 150-200fps.
The 284win is a very good catridge, very efficient for the powder it burns but it doesn't keep up with the magnums (which burn 10gr more powder per shot).
@Beetroot I run 62gns or powder surely the .284 is burning more than 52gns? @GWH was over 60gns with 162s from memory I suspect the 7-6.5prc is a wild cat formed from no more than lack of 7Saum brass in the USA
