    8 x 57 loads

Picking up an FN action Husqvarna tonite. Anyone using the 8mm Mauser out there. Have a fair bit of factory ammo with it...looks like cfe223 powder goes well with 150gr and 170gr bullets.

Thinking about the 170gr sst at around 2800 or 150gr hot cor at around 3000fps.

    Open to opinions

Nice, there is a Brno 8mm I have seen on the yellow site that interests me. Doesn't appear to be a huge range of projectiles available though.
The ADI website has some load data.

That brno looks nice cigar...not a huge projectile range for sure. I'm going to try a few lighter ones though if they don't go so well then i will revert to 200gr.
The sst looks the least flying brick like and should give a bit more useable range...may be a moot point for me though as I intend to use with open sights.

    I hunt with a 8x57 in Europe.
Predictably the projectile choice is larger there, most factory stuff Is in the 190 to 200 grn range.

ha even the wife reckons im more on the sour side or whatever the polar opposite of sweet is..........(im so sour lemons shrivel up when i lick them )
my brno is generally not fussy it likes the cheap highland 139gr as much as the expensive norma 190gr ....im hoping the 170gr rn work out good the look like they will be very effective in the thick shit

In my experience they seem to.
Try a few types and see what suits your Rifle and type of hunting.
If money or options are tight,I recommend a projectile in the 190grn+ class with a moderate powder charge.
Enjoy your Rifle, those Husquvarna rifles are lovely sporting arms.

or if your passing thru the plains anytime stop in and i will give you a handful of projectiles of diffrent types and weights to sample..... would cost almost $50 in fuel tho so not worth a special trip only if you were heading to coromandel or bay of plenty
