Maybe this is the start of new things for me and I'll become a tree-hugging greenie into recycling.

I have no confirmation that it is or is not 5 different powders. I think it's unlikely, but it is unknown so yes risky.
A 9mm adapter in a break action shotgun is probably plenty strong. Trigger on a string. This is sounding fun, maybe I can get a white lab coat and call it a science experiment.

The cost of primers won't be offset by the free powder but if it were me and it passed the sniff and litmus paper tests then I'd happily use it. In a pistol cartridge with a lead bullet if it's too fast, too slow or not enough it won't matter. A case full might be a different story though.

String along with a "Barrier" of some sort is simply an additional way to mitigate the risk if your worried. KISS.

IMO the biggest risk is a squib load leaving a bullet in the barrel. But a lead bullet will easily push out with a cleaning rod.

More than one cowboy action shooter has loaded squibs, some have put a follow up shot down the tube as well. So if you do have one you'll not be the first.

Update to the mystery of the Nobel's Parabellum No 10.
Someone I know knew someone who was involved with importing powders to NZ many years ago and knew what the powder is.
Apparently it's a very fast burning powder mainly used for loading .22 for Ramset gun charges.

In my opinion I would doubt that ? Powders used in rimfires are very fine in my experience,I've used ramset .22 blanks since the 1970's,
Every one I've seen was branded winchester.

Maybe I'll do what the guy I got the powder from did. Leave it in the safe for 40 years then once day give it away as unknown powder

    Thanks.
I Googled Nobels Parabellum No 10 and AI told me that it is a series of Bible study lessons, No 10 in the series.

I just testing asking Chat GPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok the question "What is Nobels Parabellum No 10" and they all knew it is a smokeless powder.
Interestingly Chat GPT is even citing this very thread as a source.

    Greetings,
I think that this thread has veered into dangerous territory. If the powder is not sealed in it's original container it is lawn fertiliser. If there is no data currently offered by the manufacturer it is lawn fertiliser. No point in risking your rifle and face.
