I fired 5 shots over a magnetospeed and a Prochrono (the old non-digital version). Velocities for 3 of the shots were within 1fps. The other 2 were a bit different (will look up how much), but I'm fairly confident it was due to the Prochrono turning a bit sideways due to wind and muzzle blast.

Three shots were + or - 1fps, one was 10fps different, and one 50fps different.

So does this type of chrono prefer to be in the sunlight or the shade?

Overcast days are best, but if you set it up in direct sunlight it is best to get the unit in the shade of a tree or building or car..I have the model with lights on the sun shades but I have never had to use these...so quick answer...shade is best
