    Case lube alternative

    Hi all

Though not a noob at reloading, I am a noob at reloading rifle rounds. All my previous reloading was 9mm, and I had carbide dies, so no worries/need for case lube.

Looking at case lube now, and what they generally contain got me thinking. Would beeswax furniture polish do the job? I looked on the internet and saw all kinds of alternatives people swear by, so I wondered about the beeswax polish...

Good or bad idea, and why please?

    Tx

You don't want lube residue on your cases makes them slippery in the chamber and that's a bad thing.
Furniture Polish is likely to be hard to remove

One of the best alternative case lubes is hydrogenated wool fat . You will get it from a compounding pharmacy pretty cheaply and it is OUTSTANDING. Lot of reloaded here use it.

Have used a fine mist spray of CRC before, but I always wipe down cases after anyway. A tin of Imperial sizing wax will last you for bloody ages.

I use motor oil, have done for years, no problems. You don't need much but I find it is easier to wipe of after seizing. Proper case lube is quite sticky I found.

I was taught years ago one method and over 30 years it hasnt let me down

smear of vasoline on finger tips...not a heap just a little...hold case between your two fingers and thumb and twirl it around...leaves a thin smear evenly around body of case...I dip case necks in powdered graphite with steel shot in it.... works very well as nothing on shoulder at all.

When there was such a thing and we needed bulk 223 ammo I did all my case prep then resizing on a single stage.
Whole process just goes smoother without having to resize on a progressive imo.

My mate whom I reload his Vixen says a coastal hostess from the Whakatane wharf is the best because they are always lubed.

I dip case mouths in imperial dry lube and roll body with imperial wax lube. It is quicker than it sounds and very effective.

    Or, 2 tool heads.
1 with decap and size. No primers in tube. Run cases with lube. A plastic bag or ice cream container, and spray & shuffle....

    Clean cases

2nd tool head with (I also use another sizing decapper as a insurance) powder drop, seating.

Yes it is 2 runs through, but easier than a single stage.

    Oh, using a dillon 650.
Please excuse spelling, as finger speed is sometimes behind brain spped........ Or maybe the other wayy.....
