Has your mate cleaned and lubed the firing pin in his Tikka lately ?
Some of them can rust quite badly and if bad enough there is potential it could contribute to a light firing pin strike.
This is what I was thinking too. I recently spend a week around Dusky Sound hunting and fishing. Most of the guys in the group had Sako's and most had never had the bolt in bits to clean. They very surprised at the rust forming on the pin around the area Gibo mentions.
