    Pink Brass

Iv managed to turn some brass pink following a online method of vinegar water dish soup and salt . It polishes out apparently it can be to much acid and strip the zinc but on an American forum many have done the same and a steel case in the mix was the culprit I used a steel container because I was determined to come up with a use for these empty formula containers looking back everyone online used plastic what day you ? Reaction with the steel? Stripped of zinc? Polishes back to “brass” very easy . Is it usable or is it rubbish? Will try with 1 case next time not 30

    Cheers

Dont worry. Brass is pretty resilient. Use it.

Don't shoot it. I've shot some with pink spots and they all split. I think the pink is where the brass corroded all the way through.

Shoot it mate, have done it a lot before. Changed over from tartaric acid to citric acid. No more pink cases.

It is de zinced but it's usually a surface phenomenon unless you left it in for ages and the acid concentration was high. Should be OK and might even wipe off with a rag

    Yup.

I generally use sunlight liquid dishwash(2T), 4T Citric acid and luke warm water to wet tumble, clean without tumble or even in my ultrasonic cleaner. Works a charm

I usually use 2 teaspoon of sunlight liquid, 2 teaspoons of citric acid in boiling water for ultrasonic cleaning.
480 second cycles. 10 minutes at 120 C fan bake in the oven to dry, then onto a dry towel to cool.

My ultrasonic cleaner can take 150+ cases per cycle.

A few cases come out with a pink orange bloom. Hasn't affected their shooting.

I just use shower power or Clorox bathroom cleaner in ultrasonic. Both have a mild acid and a surfactant. Brass comes out spotless,
    Primer pockets like new.

“Pink cases” should be appealing to Creedmore owners

Generally I'll clean 50 to 150 cases, depending on the amount of cases on hand.
