    primer question

Can you use small rifle primers in a pistol cartridge?

Thanks to @jim160 for the shell holder I done all the brass and picked out a spent primer and used the small rifle primer tool on the press just to see if they were the same size and it was.

So just wondering can you use small rifle primers or does it have to be pistol primers?

Toby, Until I got my .45 I only ever used Small rifle primers. Loading for .40S&W, 38 Super Comp and 9mm.

In that case I would be happy to donate you 100, 125gn JHP Zero projectiles. They have proved to be the medicine on possums

Yep I use large pistol and rifle primers, one is smaller in depth than the other, because of the breech closing on the martini Henry is a rising block it can catch on the bigger primer

PM Me your addy mate and I'll get them in the post. I send a hundy just in case they work. My race gun used to shoot them into 1 inch groups (at 50 yards). They were chrony'ed at 1375fps from my pistol but they weren't going that fast in the old possum gun i use which was chambered in 9x19, another of those wish i never sold it guns (Ruger PC9)

I highly doubt they will open up being subsonic. 9mm and 45acp full power rounds would just punch through possums when i shot them. Hollow points included. To heavy to slow.
