Good advice re reading the bullet mnfrs book, I do like a good read and I learn best through reading then doing rather than watching vids

That would align with how I was thinking, I only shoot paper/gongs to practice, far more a hunter than a shooter...although reloading might change that!

I'm a big fan of this approach.

Find out what factory ammo works for your rifle and intended targets.
Buy in bulk 200-500 rounds for larger calibres, 1,000 rounds for .223 or similar.
Future-proofs your ammo supply for a while and no need to run down to the gun shop for one or two packets before a trip.

That Nosler manual would be a good read. Problem is, the data is 90% US powders that are unlikely to be available in NZ.

100 grain projectiles can be marginally unstable in 10 inch twist rifles, specially boat tails. This may be the problem with some ammo. Almost all Remington .243 rifles have a 9 inch twist for this reason.
Reloading to save money seldom achieves that aim other than for target shooters. Handloading to improve performance and provide a more reliable supply of ammo is a different matter altogether.
