Welcome to the wonderful world of reloading.

Your not really a reloader until you've broken a few decapping pins.

I still get caught out occasionally with berdan primed brass.

Hence why I keep a supply of decapping pins on hand for just such occasions.

    Cheers

I have the same problem. I just grab some hobby glasses from the local mall, much to the amusement of someone else on here.

    +1

    I've busted 2 or 3 decapping dies.

Hence I now have a complete spare die in the cupboard.

1st batch done, 20 rounds with 4 x powder options of BenchMark 2.

When playing around with setting the seating depth, I made up some blank rounds and cycled through the Howa. At 2.260 each projectile was getting a light scratch on it from the rifle, I assumed it was from the throat of the barrel ? Serious problem indicator or .... ? These are made using my old cases that won't be used for reloading, I just kept a few on hand for testing purposes like this.

Good idea to have cases to test seating depth, but do it with cases that have been fired in your rifle (you wont have any yet)

That looks like it's seated too long .. I'm guessing that's the start of the rifling producing those scratches.

Are you measuring seating depth with Cartridge overall length (COAL) ? If so, you might wish to consider a better (IMHO) way ... not COAL, but case base to ogive.

its not complex, but I wont go into trying to explain it here .. so instead I'll let Berger Bullets do it in this article

A CBTO Gauge is cheap enough as is a hornady bullet seating depth gauge

Check out use of these in this youtube video

    my ha'penny worth ..

I've made a video showing how to quickly find your OAL when you don't have an OAL gauge .

    Hope this helps

This is another way to make your OAL gauge using your lee collet neck sizing die. Tryed it the other day very easy and you can reuse the brass
