    its the same in .22lr...once you get past certain point in barrel length,it slows down projectile......its why fellas who cut them really short often get subs going super yet guys with same rifle with std length barrel dont have issues

    in the wee 7.62x39mm I was down to below 5grns trail boss to get quiet load with 151grn projectile...other folks were using 7-8grns for same effect...my barrel was rather short.

    once you have reached complete burn and projectile has stopped speeding up..it slows down......that happens by about 13-14-15 inches from what I can gather depending on load. the longerthe barrel past that point the slower it will go...
