Do you tumble in that order?
I would generally tumbler after trimming, then chamfer......got it backwards in my list up thereQuote:

I have a hot salt bath annealing set up, can't justify an Amp annealer.....I get it up to 530 Celsius then have a metronome set up for 5 second intervals to keep my case heating time as consistent as possible, drop cases into a pot of cold water after heating. Nice nice! What speed have you got the 80s skidding along at? My pick is you’ll see bugger all difference between zero and 250yds. The 22-204 will start stepping away after that, better in the wind tooQuote:

Well today I had a first in 30 plus years of reloading, a real oops.
I had 20 rounds each of 22 CM and 6mm CM to do. That combination sorta requires you keep your wits about you as they look very similar in every way.
I load both with 2209, one gets 41.5 and the other 43.0. See why I was being so careful I really fucked up!
Yup I loaded them both with 2208 instead of 2209. Got to the range and the first 6mm round blew a primer. My first thought was I'd set the scales wrong, so stupidly I tried a 22 CM. Same result. When I've dropped the powder into them I always visually check the powder level and I had spotted that it was a bit different at that stage but didn't do anything about it. So the holes in the swizz cheese lined up. Fortunately no damage done except to two cases and my pride. . . But it could have ended less well!
No photos but loaded up some 80gr Hammer hht’s with reloder 19 for the 22 creed…

Those 85gr Sierra hpbt shot well in mine too. I got over 2900fps with CFE223 without too much pressure sign. Just stuck to the 75gr as they were way easier to source.Quote:

7mm PRC, 175 gn Berger, RL 26, 0.1 gn intervals from 67.8 to 68.7... This is a second batch after a coarser set identified a sweet spot between 68 and 68.5 gns.
Annealed, FL resized with LE wilson die and 0.310" neck sizing die... may need to go up another 0.001"... no expander ball.
Not yet happy with concentricity... may invest in a Forster FL die with a custom neck hone job.

Loaded up some more .44-40 cartridges.
Jacketed XTP bullets with 26 grains 2207 smokeless, gets 1400 fps with a 200 grain XTP bullet. This is mightily progressive using these copper jacketed bullets. All of the deer I have shot with the .44-40 so far have been with blackpowder and pure lead bullets, so I expect this modern technology to make an exceptional difference...
I discovered this week that loading lead bullets with chefade and beeswax as lube, over smokeless loads does not work out so well long term - I fired some rounds I made up over a year ago - they went Fsst! pop - one actually made a LuuuuUUUUp noise, which was literally teh noise a bullet makes as it is pushed through the bore! They went through the chronograph and get results of around 300 fps. I dicided I should stop shooting them or I was going to get a bullet stuck in the barrel!
Turns out the fat/cheafe has melted at some stage and run down and contaminated the 2207 powder. So it was only ignited a bit of powder around the primer and the rest was in the bore and action. The bullet was just popping out of the muzzle.
So, now I only load jacketed with smokeless and lead with black powder ( compressed BP is not a powder will not be contaminated in the same way - it becomes a solid cake and is as hard as wood.)

As you said Nick, beyond 250m these things were amazing. I shot about 60 goats with the 80gr ELDM from 25m to 337m. The 300m+ kills were mostly instant, with pass through and nasty exit wounds on big billy's. Light winds across gullies not an issue, just hold bang on is what I found. The 6x45 accounted for the balance of my 133 tally for the 4 days. Hmmm the dilemma...what do I take out next time.Quote:

Middle rounds. 335 grain
Right 335 in a case formed from 375 2 1/2" Flanged brass with neck expanded.
It will fire form up when shot
